Cao Zhi in Romance of the Three Kingdoms

Poem composed in seven paces

煮豆燃豆萁,
豆在釜中泣。
本是同根生,
相煎何太急!

Chử đậu nhiên đậu ki,
Đậu tại phủ trung khấp。
Bổn thị đồng căn sanh,
Tương tiên hà thái cấp!

Cao Zhi (Age of the Three Kingdoms)

Poem composed in seven paces

Bean stalks are burned to cook the beans.

The beans weep in the burning pan;

“We both sprang from the self same root;

Why should you bear so hard on me?”
